The Shaq to the Suns thing isn’t working. Think Steve Kerr can get a refund? Or an annulment or something?
The NHL trading deadline was about as exciting as one of the Ultimate Frisbee games I used to play in. So… not good…
At the risk of alienating all my fans in the great state of Wisconsin, I just don’t get the whole “I ¤ Brett Favre” thing. He’s a great player, don’t get me wrong, but he strikes me as sort of selfish. And by “strikes me as sort of,” I actually mean “is completely.” For what seems like the 10th straight year, Favre has played Hamlet about his retirement. The least he could’ve done is let the Packers know his intentions before the free agency period started. That would’ve still given him around a month and a half from the last game he played to decide. What more does he need? It’s not like he’ll skip training camp anyway. There will be those of you, Dear Readers, that will cry out: “He’s earned this right! He can decide at his own pace!” To these silly people I say this: He’s a nationwide superstar. He’s been paid millions of dollars to play a children’s game. Those are the things he’s earned … and I don’t know about you, but I think that’s more than enough.
The inescapable Roger Clemens fiasco can be summed up in one word: arrogance. That’s it. Clemens cheated a decade ago because his arrogance wouldn’t let him decline as nature intended. His arrogance forced him to throw everyone from his trainer to his nanny to his best friend to his wife under the bus with the sole intent of saving his reputation. And ultimately, it is this arrogance that led him to lie to the government and expect to get away with it.
I agree in principle with people who feel that jails should be saved for “real” criminals (murderers, rapists, etc.), but differ in cases such as this. Those of us in society who not only break the law, but then assume everyone will buy their cock and bull stories deserve whatever comes to them.
Far be it from me to say that liars belong in prison, but in this case I’ll make an exception.
All this being said, I’d still put Clemens into the Hall of Fame. As far as I’m concerned, everyone who played baseball in the last 20 years has used steroids. Everyone. No exceptions. The era should be viewed this way and the best players should get in.
And what cap should Roger’s Hall of Fame bust wear? One that matches his standard-issue orange jumpsuit.

This sounds crazy based on the numbers, but Favre may be the most overated quarterback ever, I hope he retires. I agree with your throw everybody in jail stand, however, we already have a ratio of 1-90 people in jail in the US, we cant put everybody in jail, some have to get a slide (mostly the ones with money, they are better then the rest of us). Hope about a blog about the nets?

I too want to see clemens in jail. He is the one who requested the hearing in front of congress, and he is the one that stupidly lied about EVERYTHING once there.
Farve overrated? not a chance. He holds NFL records for TD passes, and wins, not to mention his amazing iron man streak. I would like to see him not string the packers along every year, but that has nothing to do with his greatness on the field.

Farve cheated, I want him thrown in jail, how come people conveniently overlook that he was up to his ears in pain medications for years but want to crucify every baseball player trying to improve their performance; if what they say about steroids hurting your body is true (which it clearly is not) I think they should be lauded for making the ultimate sacrifice for their craft (now I’m starting to sound like Chris). Also, since its just Mike and I commenting, can you just email me directly from now on?
